Insurance is pervasive in our business and personal lives.
It demands our attention, and it costs a lot of money.
But the only time you read your policy is when something
goes wrong, and it is then that you need a very competent
lawyer who has real experience handling disputes in this
specialized area. Insurance is invaluable, and you expect
your claim to be covered, of course, especially after paying
premiums. So, it is important to leave nothing to chance
when selecting a lawyer to handle your claim.
I have significant expertise in insurance litigation.
I have litigated claims involving many different types
of policies, including health, homeowners, business premises,
title, life, disability, fidelity, surety and directors
and officers. I only represent individual or group insureds,
but I have represented large insurance companies in the
past. Having seen and heard both sides, I have a very good
working knowledge of how insurance carriers operate, and
how claims are made and handled.
It is important to note that in Florida, the law provides
for an award of attorneys fees to the insured and against
the insurance company, if the insured sues and recovers
the amount of the claim after being denied coverage. This
gives me some leeway in deciding whether to represent you
on an hourly or contingency basis, and it gives the insurance
company something to think about if it decides to be unreasonable
in denying your claim and starting a lawsuit.
